Lullaby Fund

Comforting families experiencing the tragic loss of a child

OUR STORY

Jason and I (Mary) were blessed to have one healthy boy, Noah, and wanted to expand our family. We were thrilled in early 2014 to find out that we were expecting. At our 19th week ultrasound, that all changed. That day we found out that our son, Marty, would be born without kidneys and would not survive long after birth or even be born alive. Receiving that devastating news left our world turned upside down. You never expect or want to hear that your baby would not be coming home with you. Knowing we could not do anything to save our baby, we decided to do the only thing we could control and plan Marty’s funeral.

Fortunately for us, my brother-in-law knew a wonderful funeral director, Jaime Hahn. In the weeks leading up to Marty’s birth, Jaime helped us in so many ways and provided us with the support of knowing that Marty would be taken care of when he was no longer with us. At 37 weeks Marty was born sleeping (stillborn). Even though it was the hardest day of our lives, handing Marty over to Mr. Hahn (Jaime’s father) was very difficult but also peaceful.

Saying goodbye to your child is an unthinkable task and we will never be the same, but the support and comfort that so many provided to us is unforgettable. We hope that the Lullaby Fund can provide that same type of support.
